Legal
Terms of Service
These are the rules of the agreement between you and Soula. They cover who can use the app, what you can and cannot do, how subscriptions work, and what happens if something goes wrong.
Last updated: 27 July 2026
The agreement
These terms are a contract between you and [Soula Technologies Ltd.], a company registered in England and Wales with company number [company number] and a registered office at [registered address]. We refer to ourselves as Soula, we or us.
By creating an account or using the Soula apps or soulalove.com, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Soula.
Two other documents form part of this agreement: our Community Guidelines, which set the standard for behaviour, and our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data. Purchases are also covered by our Subscription Terms and Refund Policy.
Please read the sections on liability and dispute resolution carefully. They affect your legal rights.
Who can use Soula
To use Soula you must confirm all of the following:
- You are 18 or over. There are no exceptions.
- You are legally able to enter into this contract.
- You have not been banned from Soula before. A new account after a ban is a breach of these terms.
- You are not named on any applicable sanctions list.
- You have never been convicted of, or required to register for, a felony or indictable offence involving violence, sexual assault, child abuse, terrorism or fraud, and you are not on any sex offender register.
One person, one account. You may not create an account for someone else, share your account, sell it, or transfer it.
Your account
You are responsible for your account and everything done through it. That means:
- Keep your password private and use one you do not use elsewhere.
- Give accurate information, including your real first name and photos that are genuinely of you.
- Tell us at support@soulalove.com straight away if you think someone else has access.
We may refuse to create, or may close, an account where the information given is false or where signup looks automated.
How Soula works, and what we do not promise
Soula gives you a Daily 5 of curated introductions, a Nearby feed, Out & About posts and Moments. Connections begin when someone reacts or replies to a specific prompt, photo, video or post, with an optional 150-character note. The recipient accepts or declines. A mutual reach-out connects you instantly. Once you connect, a 72-hour first-message timer starts, and conversations archive after 7 days of inactivity on Free, 14 days on Pro, and never on Premium. Likes are passive and generate no notification.
We build the product to help, but we cannot promise outcomes:
- We do not guarantee that you will receive introductions you like, that anyone will accept your request, or that you will meet anyone.
- We do not guarantee that other people are who they say they are, even where a profile is verified. Photo verification confirms that a live selfie matches the profile photos. It is not an identity check.
- We do not conduct criminal background checks or identity verification on users. Nothing in the app should be read as a vouch for anyone’s character or safety.
You are responsible for your own decisions about who to talk to and who to meet. Please read our Safety Centre before you meet anyone in person, tell someone where you are going, and trust your instincts.
Acceptable use
Our Community Guidelines are the full list, and they are binding. In short, you agree not to:
- Impersonate anyone, use someone else’s photos, or present AI-generated images as yourself.
- Harass, threaten, stalk, intimidate or abuse anyone, on or off the app.
- Send sexual content that has not been invited, or put sexual content in profile media.
- Contact anyone who has declined you, blocked you or asked you to stop.
- Solicit money, investments, cryptocurrency or gifts, or run any kind of romance fraud.
- Advertise, recruit, spam, or promote other services or platforms.
- Share anyone’s private information, including screenshots of conversations.
- Post content that is illegal, hateful, violent, or sexualises minors.
- Use bots, scrapers, automation, or reverse engineer, decompile or interfere with the app.
- Try to bypass a ban, a rate limit, a paywall or any security measure.
- Sell, resell or commercialise access to Soula or its content.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you create: your photos, videos, voice notes, prompt answers, posts and messages.
By posting content on Soula, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable and transferable licence to host, store, copy, reformat, display and distribute that content, strictly for the purposes of:
- Operating and providing the service to you and to other users.
- Reviewing and moderating content for safety and legal compliance.
- Promoting Soula, where you have given separate permission for that specific use.
This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, with two exceptions. First, content already delivered in a message stays in the recipient’s copy of that conversation, and our licence continues for as long as their copy exists. Second, we may retain copies where our Privacy Policy says we must, such as safety and legal records.
You confirm that you have the rights to everything you post, that it does not infringe anyone else’s rights, and that anyone appearing in it has agreed to appear.
Feedback
If you send us ideas or suggestions, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free licence to use them without obligation or payment. We are grateful for feedback, and we cannot run a product where every suggestion creates a claim.
Subscriptions, purchases and billing
Soula is free to use. Soula Pro and Soula Premium are optional paid subscriptions, and Boost, Spotlight and Priority Profile are one-off consumable purchases that are used up once activated.
- Purchases are billed by Apple or Google, in your local currency, through your store account. We never see your card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- Cancel through your Apple or Google account settings. Deleting the Soula app does not cancel a subscription.
- Prices shown on our website are indicative. The price you pay is the one confirmed in the store at the point of purchase, and it may change with notice for future periods.
- Consumable purchases are delivered immediately and are not refundable once used.
Full detail is in our Subscription Terms and Refund Policy. Refunds for store-billed purchases are handled by Apple or Google under their policies. Where you have a statutory right to cancel or a refund under your local consumer law, that right is not affected by anything here. Billing questions: billing@soulalove.com.
Third-party services and app stores
Soula relies on third parties, including Apple, Google and the providers listed in our Privacy Policy. Optional integrations with Spotify, Apple Music, Letterboxd and Goodreads are governed by those services’ own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services, and connecting them is your choice.
You must also comply with the terms of the store you downloaded Soula from.
Apple and Google
- These terms are between you and us only. Apple and Google are not parties to them.
- Apple and Google have no obligation to provide support or maintenance for Soula. Support requests go to support@soulalove.com.
- Your licence to use the Soula iOS app is a limited, non-transferable licence to use it on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Usage Rules.
- Apple and Google are not responsible for any claim relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance, or intellectual property claims, and are not responsible for investigating or resolving them.
- Apple and Google, and their subsidiaries, are third-party beneficiaries of this section and may enforce it.
- You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo and are not on any US Government prohibited-party list.
Moderation and enforcement
We review reported content and use automated systems to detect abuse. Where we find a breach of these terms or our Community Guidelines, we may:
- Remove content.
- Issue a warning.
- Restrict features.
- Suspend an account temporarily.
- Ban an account permanently, including at device level where someone repeatedly evades a ban.
- Report to law enforcement where there is a credible risk to life or evidence of a serious crime.
We aim to act proportionately, and we tell you what happened and why unless doing so would put someone at risk or help someone evade enforcement.
Appeals
If you think we got it wrong, reply to the notice we sent or email safety@soulalove.com. A person will review the decision, including any decision first made by an automated system. Appeals are not available for zero-tolerance violations, which are listed in our Community Guidelines.
Ending the agreement
You can stop using Soula at any time and delete your account in the app or through our Data Deletion page. Deleting starts a 30-day recovery window, then permanent deletion.
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if keeping the account open would create a genuine risk to other users. Where the reason is not urgent, we will give you reasonable notice. We may also stop offering Soula in a country, or discontinue the service entirely, with reasonable notice and a pro-rata refund of any unused prepaid subscription time.
Termination does not end the sections that are meant to survive it: content licences already granted, liability limits, indemnity and dispute resolution.
Service provided as is
Soula is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do our best to keep it working, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content and matches will meet your expectations. To the extent permitted by law, we exclude all implied warranties. Nothing in this section affects consumer rights you have that cannot be excluded, including the right to services supplied with reasonable care and skill.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for the conduct of other users, whether online or in person, or for anything that happens on a date.
- We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data or loss of goodwill.
- Our total liability arising out of or relating to this agreement is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 100.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for any of your statutory consumer rights. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, in which case the limitation applies only as far as the law allows.
Indemnity
You agree to indemnify us against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms, your content, your unlawful conduct, or your interactions with other users. This does not apply to the extent the claim results from our own breach or negligence, and we will not settle a claim in a way that admits fault on your behalf without your consent.
Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Soula infringes your copyright, send a notice to legal@soulalove.com including:
- Your name, address, telephone number and email address.
- Identification of the work you say is infringed.
- Identification of the material you want removed, with enough detail for us to find it.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the rights holder or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that under penalty of perjury you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We remove infringing material, notify the user, and terminate repeat infringers. If you believe your content was removed in error, you can send a counter-notice to the same address with equivalent detail.
Resolving disputes
Talk to us first
Before starting formal proceedings, email legal@soulalove.com with a description of the problem and what you would like us to do. We will try to resolve it with you, and both sides agree to allow 30 days for that before escalating. Most issues end here.
If you are in the United States
If the informal process does not resolve things, you and we agree that any dispute will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, rather than in court. Arbitration takes place where you live or by videoconference or on the documents, at your choice, and the arbitrator can award the same individual relief a court could.
- You may instead bring an eligible claim in small-claims court.
- Arbitration is individual. You and we both waive the right to a jury trial and to bring or take part in a class, collective or representative action.
- You can opt out of arbitration by emailing legal@soulalove.com with your name, your account email and a clear statement that you are opting out, within 30 days of first accepting these terms. Opting out does not affect anything else in this agreement.
- If the class action waiver is found unenforceable for a particular claim, that claim proceeds in court and the rest of this section still applies.
If you are anywhere else
The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, and the laws of England and Wales govern this agreement. If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, you keep the right to bring proceedings in the courts of the country where you live, and you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of that country.
Changes to these terms
We update these terms as the product and the law change. For material changes we give at least 30 days’ notice in the app or by email before they take effect, and continuing to use Soula after that means you accept them. If you do not accept, you can delete your account. Changes required for legal or safety reasons may take effect immediately.
The rest
- Notices. We contact you at the email or phone number on your account, or in the app. Send legal notices to legal@soulalove.com and to [registered address].
- Assignment. You may not transfer this agreement. We may transfer it as part of a merger, acquisition or reorganisation, on terms no less protective of you.
- Severability. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later.
- Entire agreement. These terms, the Community Guidelines, the Privacy Policy, the Subscription Terms and the Refund Policy are the whole agreement between us on this subject.
- Force majeure. Neither side is liable for delays caused by events genuinely outside its control.
- Language. These terms are written in English. A translation is for convenience, and the English version governs.
