Cookie Policy

This page covers cookies on the Soula website. We use a small number of them, only set the non-essential ones with your consent, and never use a cookie to identify you by name.

What this covers

This policy applies to soulalove.com, our marketing website. It explains what cookies we set, why, and how to change your mind.

The Soula mobile apps do not use browser cookies. Apps work differently: instead of cookies, they use device-level identifiers and software development kits, such as Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics for crash reporting and aggregate usage measurement, and Apple’s or Google’s push notification identifiers so notifications reach the right device. Those are described in our Privacy Policy, and you control them through your phone’s privacy settings rather than through this page.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device so it can remember something between page loads. Similar technologies include local storage, which works the same way for our purposes, and pixels, which are tiny image requests used to count events. We treat all of them under the same rules described here.

A first-party cookie is set by soulalove.com. A third-party cookie is set by another provider whose code runs on the page.

The categories we use

Strictly necessary

These keep the site secure and working. They handle request routing and load balancing, protect forms against cross-site request forgery, and remember which cookie choices you have made so we do not ask you again on every page.

Necessary cookies do not require consent, because the site cannot function without them. If you block them in your browser, parts of the site will break, including the cookie preference control itself.

Analytics and performance

These help us understand which pages people read and which campaigns bring them here, so we know what to write and where to spend. The data is aggregated and IP addresses are truncated before storage, so we see patterns rather than people.

We set these only with your consent.

Marketing and attribution

These measure whether an app install came from a particular campaign, so we are not guessing about advertising spend. They may be set by an advertising or attribution provider.

We set these only with your consent, and never by default.

The cookies we set

Right now, soulalove.com sets strictly necessary cookies only. No analytics or marketing script is loaded on this site unless you turn the matching category on in the cookie preferences control, and your choice is stored so that it applies the moment we do add one. The table below therefore lists the categories we use, with representative examples of the cookies each one sets when it is switched on. Exact names and lifetimes change as providers update their tools, and we keep this table current at the category level.

Name Purpose Type Retention
soula_session Maintains your session and protects forms against forgery First party Session
soula_cookie_consent Remembers which cookie categories you agreed to First party 12 months
soula_lb Routes your requests to a healthy server First party Session
_ga, _ga_* Aggregate, IP-truncated page and campaign measurement Third party Up to 24 months
soula_attr Records the campaign that referred you, to measure app installs First party 90 days
_gcl_* Advertising campaign attribution for app install ads Third party Up to 90 days

None of these cookies is used to identify you by name. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles about you, and we do not sell or share cookie data for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Managing your choices

On our site

Use the cookie preferences control in the site footer. You can turn analytics and marketing on or off at any time, and the change takes effect immediately. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and we will not ask you again for 12 months unless you clear your cookies.

Strictly necessary cookies cannot be turned off through that control, because the site would stop working.

In your browser

Every browser lets you block or delete cookies, though blocking all of them will break sign-in and preference features on most sites, including ours.

  • Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies and Delete browsing data.
  • Safari: Settings, then Privacy, where you can block all cookies and manage stored website data.
  • Firefox: Settings, then Privacy & Security, where Enhanced Tracking Protection and cookie exceptions live.
  • Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then Manage and delete cookies and site data.

On your phone

  • On iOS, App Tracking Transparency asks each app for permission to track you across other companies’ apps and websites. You can review or revoke it under Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking.
  • On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID under Settings, Privacy, Ads, which stops it being used to link activity over time.

Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track

We honour the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or extension sends it, we treat it as a valid opt out of analytics and marketing cookies for that browser, and we do not ask you again on that device.

Browser Do Not Track headers have no agreed standard, so we do not rely on them alone. Use the cookie preferences control or Global Privacy Control instead, and your choice will be respected.

Changes and questions

We update this page when the tools we use change. The date at the top reflects the current version, and material changes to non-essential cookies will reset your consent so you can choose again.

For how we handle personal data generally, see our Privacy Policy. For questions about cookies or a data request, email privacy@soulalove.com, or use Contact for anything else.
